Wedding Klezmer: Music from Greece and the Balkans

Bookmark
A musical program of Yiddish songs, traditional Klezmer and Eastern European folklore. With clarinet, trumpet, accordion, guitar, double bass, and singing.

What

Wedding Klezmer are Stefan Aab (accordion), Jannis Lilge (trumpet, bouzouki, vocals), Uwe Sauerwein (guitar, vocals), Thomas Gruner-Szu (clarinet, bass clarinet) and Reiner Rowald (bass, bagama, mandola).

The Berlin band has been playing Klezmer, music from the Balkans and Greek Rembetiko for over 20 years. The musicians in the Berlin district of Wedding met at a workshop of the musician, composer and trumpet Paul Brody. They have been playing as quartet and quintet since that time. They work out and arrange their own pieces. They share the enthusiasm for Jewish music and songs from Eastern Europe and Greece.
