Easy language

The Senior Network Berlin has three parts:

1) Internet page

You can find many offers and events in your area at Seniorennetz Berlin. The website can be reached at www.seniorennetz.berlin.

Here you will find many topics, especially on leisure, culture and education. The offers from Berlin's adult education centres can also be found here.

The Seniorennetz works together with the Berlin districts and many other institutions and organizations.

The offers can be entered by institutions or by older people themselves.

All offers are free or cost little money.

The Seniorennetz provides important information, for example from the Berlin police.

The website is barrier-free and written in understandable language.

The site can be displayed in different languages.

2) Info boxes

The info boxes are for people who are not good at using the internet or do not have their own device.

The info boxes provide you with information from the Berlin Seniors' Network.

You can print out interesting offers and take them home with you.

You can use the info boxes on your own or ask for help.

The info boxes are also suitable for people with wheelchairs and walkers.

The service is free of charge.

3) Courses and AWO digital cafés

The Seniorennetz Berlin offers tablet courses and AWO Digital Cafés.

In the courses, older people learn how to use tablets.

The courses are for people who have no previous knowledge.

There is also the AWO Digital Café.

Here you can enjoy coffee and cookies in a friendly environment.

Older people can learn and ask questions.

Both offers are free of charge.

Workers' Welfare Association Berlin (AWO Berlin)

The Workers' Welfare Association (AWO) was founded in 1919 by the politician Marie Juchacz.

She wanted to help people who had little money.

Today, the AWO in Berlin is an important organization that takes care of social problems in the city.

Around 8,100 people work for the AWO in Berlin. There are also around 6,000 members.

The AWO helps in many areas, for example in childcare, elderly care or supporting people in difficult situations.

Many people work for the AWO on a voluntary basis.

They contribute new ideas and help to make Berlin a little better and fairer.

The AWO welcomes every new member or every person who helps out.

Because even after more than 100 years, the AWO's goal is to make society more humane.
