Opening of the exhibition of the Initiative for Respect and Tolerance

What

The Initiative for Respect and Tolerance aims to highlight the experiences emergency personnel face in their daily work. To this end, they spoke with more than 150 emergency personnel in 40 cities across Germany. The exhibition features photos and biographies of uniformed personnel, from municipal law enforcement, to the fire service, rescue services, and customs. The focus is on dangerous, everyday situations in which emergency personnel experience hostility. The portraits highlight the people beneath the uniform. They illustrate both the personal and human aspects of the work, which includes both difficult and rewarding experiences. The exhibition can be viewed during the library's opening hours.
