Excursion "From the masonry to the house red tail"

The traces of that time are still well visible. At the former border crossing in Chausseestraße, works by a Berlin artist remind of this. Between two parallel concrete walls there was a land strip in which specific conditions existed due to military use.
The opening of the border area also created new opportunities for development for nature. The exploration of the flora and fauna created there is at the heart of this city's history.
In the beginning, the land left to itself was used for the settlement of undemanding pioneer plants. In the course of time, meadows, blooming highlands, valuable dry grass and wooded strips developed. This combination of different vegetation structures requires a great variety of species.
