What is LAIB und SEELE?
LAIB und SEELE - this is the name of the distribution points in Berlin that the Berliner Tafel offers together with the churches. The distribution points provide Berliners living in poverty with food to take home. The churches provide the necessary rooms and resources. The Berliner Tafel provides support with food and logistics. rbb publicized the campaign and has accompanied LAIB und SEELE ever since.
That's what we do:
Each LAIB und SEELE distribution point is usually open once a week. On the distribution day, the volunteers collect food from supermarkets in the neighborhood that is no longer being sold but is still good. The volunteers sort the food and then pass it on to people who can make good use of it.
The food you receive from us is intended as support and is enough for one to two days.
This is how it works:
If you only have a low monthly income, you can receive food from LAIB und SEELE.
Each zip code is assigned a nearby distribution point. You can find out which distribution point is the right one for you and when it is open on our website: www.berliner-tafel.de. You can enter your zip code in the top right-hand corner and the correct distribution point will be displayed.
Go to the right issuing office, show them your current citizen's allowance, basic income support, housing benefit or pension certificate and your ID card or passport.
The volunteers will make a note of your details so that you do not have to present the documents every week. Your data will not be passed on to third parties.
If you are unable to come in person, you can also authorize someone else to collect your documents.
