Department of Migration, Long-Term Care, and Aging
We promote the involvement and participation of older adults with a migration background in Berlin
FaMiPA stands for the Center for Migration, Care, and Aging. The center’s goal is to raise awareness of the needs and concerns of older adults with a migration background in Berlin, to systematically dismantle discrimination, and to promote their equal participation.
What does FaMiPA do?
Our goal is to ensure that older adults with a migration background in Berlin receive good care when they need it and as they age, and can grow old with dignity and autonomy. FaMiPA raises awareness of the needs and concerns of older adults with a migration background and promotes their equal involvement and participation. FaMiPA provides information on diversity-sensitive care and anti-discrimination.
FaMiPA takes an intersectional, participatory, anti-discriminatory, and diversity-sensitive approach. In doing so, the center bridges the gaps between practice, academia, and politics and connects stakeholders from these fields.
For seniors with a migration background and their families and loved ones, FaMiPA brings together information and resources related to aging and care in Berlin. It creates participatory spaces that empower them as active participants to shape their own aging experience.
FaMiPA provides practical, everyday information on aging and care in Berlin to people who are in contact with older adults with a migration background.
And who is FaMiPA intended for?
We are here for older adults with a migration background and their families and loved ones.
And we provide opportunities for exchange and networking for stakeholders in the fields of nursing and elder care, as well as for migrant self-help organizations.
