Visions — Digital Inclusion for Older Adults with Dementia

Would you like to discover more about the world, preserve memories, and get creative—with no prior knowledge required? Kolo e.V. will guide you into the digital world with patience and trust. It’s free and people-centered.

What is Project Visions?

Visions is a non-commercial program run by Kolo e.V. Berlin aimed at promoting digital inclusion for older adults—particularly those with early-stage cognitive impairments and at risk of dementia. We support seniors in assisted living communities and in their own homes as they develop digital skills: in a completely individualized way, at their own pace, and in a manner that relates to their own life stories.

We view digital participation as a therapeutic intervention: images, music, films, and virtual trips to familiar places trigger memories, strengthen cognitive health, and foster social connectedness.

What exactly do we do?

Our coaches work with individuals and small groups, either directly in shared living arrangements for people in need of care or during home visits. Typical activities include:

  • Virtual excursions to significant locations, museums, or their former homes
  • Creative media production: your own short films, photos, and digital stories
  • Musical memories: Favorite songs and artists on YouTube and Spotify
  • Watching self-created content together as a group

Who is Visions for?

Visions is aimed at older adults aged 65 and older—in particular:

  • People with dementia or early-stage cognitive impairment
  • Older adults experiencing social isolation
  • Older adults with a migrant background, for whom a multilingual, culturally sensitive approach is particularly important
